Technical Dance Classes + Technical classes for
Teen Beginners

We run a series of ISTD Ballet, Tap & Modern dance classes for the serious dance student. The classes offer progress through examinations and start with primary grades through to majors. Examinations are usually scheduled during term break and taken yearly in order to give the candidate sufficient time to be well schooled and confident of a good result. Please note candidates are entered at the teachers discretion. Teen Classes are offered for pupils 13 + who have no technical dance experience & wish to seriously learn the syllabus grades applicable to their age group.

Little Ballerina & Pop Diva's
These are combination classes for pupils 3 + years. Session 1 approx 25 minutes. Young children are introduced to early ballet steps, skipping, hopping and flexing feet - the perfect start for the young and enchanted performer. There is a very short (washroom) break before session 2 (25 minutes) where the emphasis will be on song and dance. The first steps towards learning lyrics and choreography. A magical time for the little ones. Reccommended for all future pop stars and stage diva's!!!!!!

Singing Vocal & Technical
Singing is offered to pupils from the age of 7 plus years. Most children of this age have a fair to good grasp of language. Breathing technique and the use of 'chest and head voice' is explored and work begins on vocal range and pitch. A good repertoire of songs is covered throughout the term - ranging from pop to classical and musical theatre.Microphone and performance technique is also covered.

Acting technique
It is also an advantage for pupils to be quite confident with their reading. The subject covers script work, improvisation, character development and voice projection. There is also an opportunity to participate in acting for camera workshops and in-house performances.

Performance Workshop

Italia Conti Wokingham is well known for the high standard shown in its shows, and opportunity is always being presented for its pupils to 'perform' whether it be in-house or at a professional theatre. Its pupils are encouraged to participate in live and recorded productions, they are taught theatre etiquette & terminology and of course health and safety in the work place.
It comes as no great surprise to all at ITALIA CONTI that there is now an emphasis by educational therapists, child health care workers and government departments that the ARTS can aid in the development of children and is now actively encouraged. Italia Conti has known and proven this for nearly one hundred years!
